Investigators were somewhat perplexed about his story, in part because there was no evidence Chen had urinated in the three days he was supposedly trapped, police sources said.
But Chen said he urinated through the door, "so I didn't have to smell it."

On Thursday, Wendy's announced it would give a $50,000 reward to the first person providing verifiable information leading to the positive identification of the origin of the finger.
"It's very important to our company to find out the truth in this incident," said Tom Mueller, Wendy's president and chief operating officer. "We believe someone knows exactly what happened, and hopefully the reward will encourage this person to come forward."
LAS VEGAS -- The woman who claims she bit into a human finger while eating chili at a Wendy's restaurant has a history of filing lawsuits -- including a claim against another fast-food restaurant.
Anna Ayala, 39, who hired a San Jose, Calif., attorney to represent her in the Wendy's case, has been involved in at least half a dozen legal battles in the San Francisco Bay area, according to court records.
...
Ayala acknowledged, however, that her family received a settlement for their medical expenses about a year ago after reporting that her daughter, Genesis, got sick from food at an El Pollo Loco restaurant in Las Vegas.
Ayala, 39, was taken into custody Thursday night at her suburban Las Vegas home based on a warrant alleging grand larceny and attempted grand larceny. She has denied placing the finger in the chili.
Davis said the grand larceny allegation has no connection to the Wendy's case and instead stems from a 2002 incident in which Ayala allegedly tried to sell a mobile home in San Jose that she didn't own. The victim lost $11,000.
Davis said the second allegation, the attempted grand larceny, pertained to the Wendy's case.
anticipating the woman is Edith Schuth (SHOOF), whose son claims he hid her body in the freezer more than four years ago.
Schuth told investigators he hid the body after his mother died of natural causes on Aug. 15, 2000. He said he was afraid he would be investigated for homicide or abuse, and he also would have to live without his mother's monthly Social Security checks.

The long struggle of a sexual assault victim By JOAN RYAN
Martine Savage never imagined herself moving out of California in the middle of her senior year at high school.
She left behind her role as Abigail in "The Crucible,'' her spot on the school soccer team, her part-time job at a beauty salon, her friends. She won't be attending her prom or her graduation.
Savage accused three classmates at San Rafael High of sexually assaulting her after a house party on Jan. 15. One was on the baseball team. One on the basketball team.
All three were in the popular crowd. Savage wasn't. She is the kind of girl who gets good grades and dresses a little eccentrically and can be abrupt when she's annoyed.

a film shot by the 49ers' former public relations director, Kirk Reynolds, that included enough off-color jokes to make Howard Stern shake his head.
Inside of its 15-minute running time, the movie managed to be homophobic and xenophobic, to make light of the homeless, to encourage bribery, and to
reduce the subject of gay marriage to lesbian porn -- and all of this, amazingly enough, in the name of fostering mutual understanding between peoples of different beliefs and backgrounds.

After this bit of comic artistry, we're taken to a lesbian wedding at the Mitchell Brothers' O'Farrell Theater, where the happy couple drops to the floor for some heavy petting after exchanging "I do's."

Judith Miller, a journalist of mass misinformation
The role of Vice-President Cheney in the “weapons of mass destruction” in Iraq lie made us forget about the responsibility of the press for disseminating false news. Judith Miller, a star journalist and writer, added a lot of fuel to the fire in the case against Bin Laden. Not satisfied with blaming him for several attacks in the United States since 1993, she convinced the world that Bin Laden was also responsible for the anthrax attacks. After receiving one of the mysterious letters herself, she said: “I’m the news”. Indeed she was, but she has not told the truth. Judith Miller represents “information laundering”; her scoops in the New York Times come from anonymous sources in Dick Cheney’s circle, and are publicly confirmed by authorities... represented by Dick Cheney.

“Human trafficking is a modern form of slavery, and sadly, we see it here in Illinois,” said Governor Rod Blagojevich
The most recent case of slavery in Illinois was discovered on February 27 when several federal agents conducted five raids in *Rockford massage parlors
where they found “undocumented Chinese and Korean women kept in brothels. The young women worked and lived in small rooms, virtually enslaved, unable to go out to the street.”
State, U.S. officials announce plan to combat human trafficking
In *Rockford, authorities earlier this year shut down several health spas after investigators found evidence that Asian women and girls were likely smuggled into the country to work there as prostitutes.

Man Kills Wife After Sex To Watch Sports On TV
UPDATED: 12:45 pm EDT August 4, 2005
PANAMA CITY, Fla. -- A Florida sports fan has been sentenced to death for killing his wife after sex.
Christoper Offord got angry because his wife wanted to cuddle after they had sex -- but he wanted to watch sports on television. She died after being struck dozens of times with a claw hammer.
Offord later confessed to a bartender at a sports bar, and eventually pleaded guilty to first-degree murder.
In imposing the death sentence, the judge said the brutality of the crime outweighed any of the defendant's possible mental problems.
Offord did not speak in court, but admitted in a jailhouse interview that he deserved to die.
LINCOLN, Neb. - A California man believed to be the only Japanese-American to have flown over Japan during World War II was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal on Friday, the third highest of the U.S. Army's decorations.
Ben Kuroki of Camarillo, Calif., received the medal at a dinner in his honor Friday night in his home state of Nebraska.
"Receiving this medal so many decades after the fact is truly incredible," Kuroki said at the ceremony. "I had to fight like hell to fight for my country, and now I feel completely vindicated."
The son of Japanese immigrants who was raised on a Hershey, Neb., farm, Kuroki, 88, became a gunner and flew on 58 bomber missions over Europe, North Africa and Japan.
He and his brother, at their father's urging, sought to enlist after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941. After being turned down by recruiting officials in North Platte, the brothers traveled 150 miles to Grand Island, where they were accepted.
Because of his Japanese ancestry, Kuroki was initially rejected when he asked to serve on a B-29 bomber that was to be used in the Pacific. But after repeated requests and a review of Kuroki's stellar service record, Secretary of War Harry Stimson granted an exception.
After the war, Kuroki returned to Nebraska. He earned a degree in journalism from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in 1950, and eventually moved to California, where he worked for the Ventura Star-Free Press. He retired from the paper, now the Ventura County Star, in 1984.

Where was our government during this time of crisis? After a state of emergency was declared in Louisiana, after an evacuation order was made for New Orleans, after tens of thousands had flocked to the Superdome with extremely limited supplies, after Hurricane Katrina made landfall and the levee was breached, where were our leaders?
President Bush was at a photo-op playing guitar with a country singer. Vice President Cheney was in some "undisclosed location" in Wyoming. Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld attended a San Diego Padres baseball game and Secretary of State Rice found the time to see a Broadway play, do a little shoe shopping and attend the U.S. Open, according to thinkprogress.org.
When in New Orleans, repair on the broken levee was delayed so that President Bush could construct a stage for a photo-op, according to a statement released by U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-La. He also diverted Coast Guard helicopters, crew and 50 firefighters to stand by him for yet another photo-op. This is disgusting. This President truly seems to care more about his poll numbers than the victims of the hurricane.
...
Starting in 2001, FEMA was systematically gutted and downsized by President Bush who also installed Michael Brown as the agency's director. Brown was previously fired by the International Arabian Horses Association for incompetence, according to The Boston Herald. Unbelievably, Brown's sorry performance during Katrina evoked not scorn, but praise from the President as he told the FEMA head "Brownie, you're doing a heck of a job," according to The Associated Press.
"There's a chess game going on in the sky," Stevens said. "It affects each and every one of us. It is the one common thread that binds us all together."
Although the theories espoused by Stevens - scalar weapons, global dimming - are definitely on the scientific fringe today, there are thousands of Web sites that mention such phenomena.

I knew this guy and he was NOT Normal. Everyone thinks he was a great guy and I also thought so. But,from day one, I knew he was weird. What everyone reads is misleading. He as not the typical family guy that just had a run of bad luck and snapped all of a sudden. No, he was always a little strange.
He was overbearing and pushy - a control freak of sorts. I could never put my finger on it but I thought he was harmless. In fact, he almost tried too hard to be friendly. He was hyper and didn't really respect boundaries sometimes. He would talk about having been in the CIA but never any details. I was never sure if he was telling the truth about the CIA and that he spoke fluent Arabic, several dialects he would say.
But that's got nothing to do with it I'm sure. He was a freaking ego-maniac and obviously sick. I just can't get over how he could have done this to his beautiful babies. Do you have any idea what a .357 magnum would do to you?? SICK!
I worked with him at Children's Hospital in Oakland in the computer department.
I remember when he became a dad, it made a real impression on me about how proud and happy he was when Niki was born. He did it all right, that note sounds like him. He doesn't deserve anyone's pity, he's a piece of crap.
Give him a break!??! May he burn in hell....

“Good morning. I just finished a Cabinet meeting. One of the things we discussed was the terrible situation there in Minneapolis. We talked about the fact that the bridge collapsed, and that we in the federal government must respond and respond robustly to help the people there not only recover, but to make sure that lifeline of activity, that bridge, gets rebuilt as quickly as possible.
“To that end, Secretary Peters is in Minneapolis, as well as Federal Highway Administrator Capka. I spoke to Governor Pawlenty and Mayor Rybak this morning. I told them that the Secretary would be there. I told them we would help with rescue efforts, but I also told them how much we are in prayer for those who suffered.”
