Japanese donation of a research scholarship
In May 2006 a private person in Japan has donated 600.000 kr.
to a research scholarship at half time for a three year period to NEAs
coordinator and M.Sc.
in Hstory of Ideas, Hans Jorgen Vodsgaard.
The purpose of this reseach project is to unfold a historical and
philosophical dialogue between
the Japanese humanistic enlightenment, represented by Soka Gakkai, with a
reference to Buddhist view of life,
notably with Nichiren, and the Nordic enlightenment, represented by
Grundtvig,
with a reference to German Neohumanism, historical philosophy, and cultural
criticism,
leading to an appreciation of common basic understandings, which may
confront the presently
dominating technical and instrumental educational thinking, and outline
features of a sustainable
humanistic pedagogy with a global aim.
We thank SGI-Denmark for the help to arrange the contact to the Japanese
donator.

I offer a bouquet of gratitude to you both and the members of the church for strengthening my hands towards the mission of my mentor Dr. Ikeda
