We respect them, of course. But in turn, I wonder why you saw like that.
もちろん尊敬してますよ。漏れとしては逆に、そういう風に何で見えたのかよく分かんないかな。
I assure everybody here simply doesn’t know what’s called Rengeteki, and wants to know how non-Japanese people love it.
保証するよ、ここにいる人たちは「蓮華的」が何なのか分からなかっただけなの。日本人じゃない人が東方のことをどんな風に好きなのか知りたがってるんだよ。
Rather, it has happened because Touhou truly went beyond the boundary of nation, I think;
むしろ、東方が本当の意味で国境を越えたから、こういうことが起きたんだと思うよ。
it couldn’t happen if non-Japanese people, not Japanese abroad students or emigrants didn’t love it.
日本人の留学生とか移民じゃなくて、日本人じゃない人が東方好きじゃないとこんなこと起きないもん。
We're happy to know things like that.
漏れたちはそういうことが分かるとうれしいの。
So, don’t mistake, please. We’re not laughing or attacking! Never!
だから、どうか勘違いなさらずに。笑ってるわけでも、攻撃してるわけでもないの!絶対に!
By the way, I remember once they discussed the name of 非想天則.
ところで、以前非想天則の名前について議論してたのを覚えてるよ。
It’s about whether “UNL” might well be used as the abbreviation of “Unconsciouss Natural Law”, the rough translation of “非想-天-則”.
「非想天則」の意訳 "Unconscious Natural Law" の略称として "UNL" が使われちゃっていいのか、という内容でした。
That Englishlike or Europeanized name is very interesting & important to think about the gap between Japan & European metaphysics.
この英語っぽいというか、欧米化されてる名前はすっごく興味深いし大事だと思うよ、日本と英米の形而上学の差について考えると。
For example, one of the problems is that there’s no English word matched with “天”.
問題のうちの一つに、「天」に合う単語が英語にない、とかね。
above: English
below: Japanese translation, in case my English isn’t easy to read
Oh, I see. That makes me feel better.
I noticed that Rengeteki's popularity was spreading very fast. In fact, some people on Walfas are already requesting that there be a Create.swf of her!
So I decided to check around the internet. I used Google, so of course the translation isn't going to be good. That may be part of the reason why I misunderstood.
See, I'm actually the one who came up with the name, and with the intention of it meaning "Mystic Lotus"(and Google's suckish translation of this site), I felt humiliated.
I used a kanji dictionary site, but since I'm not an expert with Japanese, it was difficult for me to make sure that I was creating the name correctly.
I'm sorry for the misunderstanding.

The popularity vote of the Touhou character was done in Japan recently.
The result is the following. http://v.thwiki.info/vote7/result_char.html
If you feel like it, could you also performe the popularity vote?
We want to know which character is popular overseas.
Thankyou!
>>470
Will do! We have a Touhou Club on DeviantART, so I suggested it.
Mima is not as popular as the other characters according to those results...But it does make sense since she's a PC-98 character.
I find it funny that under 一押し, Cirno has 666~

I'm Japanese.
It's just coinsidence. If it turned upside down, it will be 999 hahaha.
Actually, this is the only thread in touhou community for sharing world news about touhou movements abroad.
We are very interested in foreign touhou fans like you!
But, we all are not so good at English to know what happens in outside world.
Foreingers in this thread are very valuable. Take it easy!

It's great to know that~
I'm sorry I can only speak English though. I'm afraid of what Google Translator might come up with if I use it to convert English to Japanese.
But it seems like most of you can understand enough of it to get what I'm saying. I wish it was like that over here...
If anything new comes up over here, I'll be sure to tell you!
Oh yeah, how would you pronounce "名無し"? I know that し is "shi", but I'm not sure about the first two...This is what you call Rengeteki, right? I thought it would be an interesting fact to put in the Touhou Wiki.
Ah, so I was on the right track.
And yes, Rengeteki is the nameless fairy. I think there's a link in one of the previous posts that leads to her page on our Touhou Wiki.
Actually Rengeteki is not popular... or she gets totally no attention in Japanese touhou community.
She appears in Lotus Land Story of PC-98 platform. Most of Japanese touhou players have not played PC-98 touhou games.
We don't mention at tiny nameless fairly, and we know it for the first time by checking Touhou Wiki.
The name "Rengeteki" is a little bit odd for Japanese. We guess it is Chinese.
We are discussing why she is named "Rengeteki" in >>453->>461.
For now we guess Rengeteki is the character Taiwanese touhou fan made, but we have no source for it.
Japanese really don't know about Rengeteki.
