Awakening Through Kriya Yoga: In the Presence of Paramahansa Yogananda
Thursday, February 18, 2016 http://www.unity.fm/episode/TheYogaHour_021816
Description:
What was it like to study with the great yoga master Paramahansa Yogananda? Roy Eugene Davis, one of Paramahansa Yogananda’s last living direct disciples, joins Yogacharya O’Brian for an inspiring conversation about his years with his guru. Learn what Yogananda emphasized as essential for spiritual awakening, how he advised his disciples, and some of the ways he inspired others to live in the highest way. Discover why the Kriya Yoga taught by Yoganandaji is a path of Self- and God-realization especially relevant to truth seekers today.
Thresholds: At what age did your awareness of desiring to serve God begin?
Davis: In my early, early teens, probably around eleven, twelve, thirteen. I used to go to church with my parents in Ohio, a small country church, it was a fundamentalist approach. The vitality of the spiritual message moved me and I began to feel a call to minister in some way. And then in middle high school, on my own, I began to go to the public library and got books on world religion and psychology and explored more broadly. Then when I was in tenth grade, I read a book on Yoga and that seemed to me to be a rational approach to Self-understanding and Self-actualization and then I read Yogananda’s book Autobiography of a Yogi when I was eighteen. That was the highlight, I believe, of my reading and I resolved then to go to California and study with him, which I did in 1949.

<10 Arguments for the Defense of the Tenno System(天皇制擁護の10の理由)> by Michihiro Matsumoto
■Rationale:the system works better than any other hypothetical systems for Japan
■Definition:the Tenno System, hereinafter called "the system", means the Japan's single reigning imperial line ever since its shadowy protohistoric beginnings, uninterrupted by the postwar constitution of 1947 that defines the Emperor as the symbol of the state and of the unity of the people, deriving his position from the will of the people with whom resides sovereign power.
■Major arguments:
1. Logical reason: no other system works better for Japan. The system is the logical choice.
2. Political reason: Other political systems are probably costlier. The system, given its moral nature, finds it easier to constitutionally guarantee the freedom of speech we now enjoy.
3. Diplomatic reason: No other organs in Japan's body politic can better serve diplomatic functions than the imperial force. Representatives from 164 countries attended the state funeral for Showa Tenno for funeral diplomacy.
4. Historical reason: The unbroken imperial line has worked in Japan in terms of historical continuity and strengthened cultural identity.
5. Psychological reason: It works best in Japan because the "vacuum" center of our traditional culture serves as an emotional pull or Japanese "void" principle that makes parts work harmoniously inward.
6. Religious reason: The Tenno(chrysanthemum)serves religious rites. Ancestor worship and tradition are almost a religion for Japanese.
7. Structural reason: Symmetrical logic demands that there be a balance between "sacred" and "secular" bodies(i.g. church vs state)in Japan and
a responsible center watching over its peripherals.
8. Biological reason: Immunologically speaking, the heavily guarded system provides a unique immune system peculiar to Japan the way red blood cells (Imperial Family)work, protected by white blood cells(the government and military)that fight to protect the antibod(Kokutai)."Kokutai"(national polity)is a nucleus containing the nation's DNA and genetic information on the methods of avoiding intra-specific aggression.
9. Moral and ethical reason: The Tenno is traditionally the only unbiased parental figure who grows up on moral and ethical educations within the
maternal Imperial Family, so he is traditionally capable, if constitutionally allowed, of exercising moral and ethical influences upon the rest of the nation.
10. Economic reason: the system representing traditional rice culture, is the most ecological and the least capitalistic and for that matter the least
exploitatve form of economic activities.

The senses perceive nothing but the shadow of beliefs.
Although you may possess spiritual eyes and see the figure of a spirit,
You have not seen Reality.
All that you can perceive through your senses are
Merely shadows of the mind and not the principal Reality.
Spiris differ in their appearance.
There are spirits who are ill,
There are spirits who are suffering,
There are spirits who suffer from a stomach disorder although they have no stomach.
There are spirits who suffer from a heart disease, yet they have no heart of their ownーー
These are all delusions.

And destroy all delusions of the mind which are the source of all sufferings,
All the angels of heaven will shower down a chorus of Truth

From the March 2016 issue of The Christian Science Journal
Beloved Church family,
We so look forward to uniting with you for Annual Meeting on June 6—online wherever you are, or here in Boston. We love this sacred and joyful occasion to share with and hear from members around the globe how the scientific knowledge of God is tangibly blessing humanity. It’s a time to inspire and strengthen each other in fulfilling Mary Baker Eddy’s vision for her Church as “designed to be built on the Rock, Christ; even the understanding and demonstration of divine Truth, Life, and Love, healing and saving the world from sin and death; thus to reflect in some degree the Church Universal and Triumphant” (Church Manual, p. 19).
Healing and saving the world! That’s quite an expectation. We rejoice in global examples of progress in justice and peace—heartening evidence of a growing understanding of one universal God that is Truth and Love. Yet much remains to be done to demonstrate the reality of God’s allness that heals and saves individuals, nations, and the whole earth.
As we seek to fulfill the unique and essential role of church to meet this pressing need, these questions may stir thought:
• What does the world around me think about church?
• What did Mary Baker Eddy expect church to be and do?
• What do I expect church to be and do?
In spite of any limited and limiting views of church and its contemporary relevance, there is a universal hunger for the heartfelt experience of God’s saving power. And these questions press us to respond to the demand for church that is vibrant with unselfed love and actively engaged in authentic Christian healing for humanity. The still radical, still new understanding of God and man found in Christian Science is life-changing. It birthed the Church of Christ, Scientist, and continues to grow it as we each realize our own vital part in forwarding its healing mission.
At Annual Meeting, church members will tell how they’re deepening and expanding their healing practice—through daily study of the Bible, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, and the weekly Christian Science Bible Lessons, and by the compassion, hope, and work for the world that The Christian Science Monitor and our other periodicals inspire.
As we feel more of the stability, confidence, and inclusive love “the structure of Truth and Love” (Science and Health, p. 583) brings to our lives, people the world over searching for a better home will recognize, desire, and find the precious knowledge of the all-loving God that Church offers everyone.
What a joy it will be to welcome as many of you as possible to Annual Meeting 2016.
With great love and gratitude for each one who has named the name of Christ,
Elise Moore, Speaker. This healing talk is part of a lecture event in Orange County, CA about about "Healing Through Prayer."
It's about handling fear and utilizing the law of God to heal disease. Elise will discuss 7 laws of God that result in healing,
including 5 specific ways to remove fear. Healings include rheumatoid arthritis, lump in breast, cancer, effects of a serious
auto accident, anorexia, heart condition, and more. This is a comforting, gentle, compassionate, practical talk to allay the fear
of patients and heal. The speaker is a practitioner and teacher of Christian Science healing. You will find more talks about healing
