Postecoglou on injury news: "From last week, Brennan will miss out. It's nothing too serious but he won't be right for this weekend. Madders and Sonny trained today, they got through it, and we'll have to see (contd) https://twitter.com/AlasdairGold/status/1707732080883286312
Postecoglou on being a Liverpool fan as a kid: "It was the 70s so you could have gone one or two ways as they only used to show Liverpool or Man Utd back then [in Australia]. I had a couple of mates went the United way and I went with Liverpool to make it interesting. (contd) https://twitter.com/AlasdairGold/status/1707732992108425317
Postecoglou on Son being a great ambassador for the club as captain: "To be fair to Sonny, he always has been. He hasn't needed the armband to show his love for the football club." https://twitter.com/AlasdairGold/status/1707734595431501961
Asked Postecoglou about Bryan Gil: "Yeah, like you've said he's been a bit unfortunate in that pretty much since the start of pre-season he's had a couple of injuries that haven't allowed him to train with the team. He had a good year last year away from here and (contd) https://twitter.com/AlasdairGold/status/1707741049299308551
"he certainly plays in a position where guys with his attributes can certainly fit into our structure.
"It'll be good to see Bryan getting up to speed over the next couple of weeks, training with the team and then, obviously with Ivan going down, we're one down (contd) https://twitter.com/AlasdairGold/status/1707741051409092684
Also asked Postecoglou if Rodrigo Bentancur is ahead of schedule: "Nah, nah. There's no change. All Rodrigo's doing at the moment is warm-ups with the teams so he's not doing it on his own, but he's not participated in any sort of meaningful training yet." https://twitter.com/AlasdairGold/status/1707741967491256460
#thfc Postecoglou says Spurs "have our own blueprint" but there's inspiration to be drawn from Klopp's Liverpool & their success without a state or oligarch. But to beat them tomorrow, Spurs need to address a hideous run of form in this fixture. Preview: https://twitter.com/Dan_KP/status/1707836182493540650
Ange Postecoglou on Maddison and Son: "Yeah they’ve been good. They've been very good. Both on and off the field, along with Romero, have driven the lads to maintain a level of performance they’re going to get every week."
Ange Postecoglou on some players being disappointed that Spurs didn't win the North London Derby: "From that perspective absolutely, and that’s all player driven, it’s got nothing to do with me. They’re the ones embracing what we’re doing, and yeah it wasn’t euphoric in the dressing room by any stretch. We knew it was going to be a tough game and Arsenal have already shown they’re going to be a force this season, and they played well last week and had their moments but we felt like we more than held their own and the lads being disappointed is a good indicator of where we’re at and where their ambitions lie. So it’s up to me and the other coaches to keep providing that platform and environment for them to keep pushing on and see what levels they can reach."
Ange Postecoglou on does he rate Liverpool highly: "Yeah, very highly. They've been a very good football team for a while now. obviously they fell off the pace last year a little but the elements of who they are as a football team have always been there. It's a great test for us. They probably bring something different from any other team in the league in the way they play and the manner they go about things, and it'll be a really good test for us to try to impose our football on a team that's fairly unique in the way they play the game. Jurgen is an outstanding manager, he's one the managers I think it's fair to say who has made an impact on the competition, not just his club. Because when he came in, with the way Liverpool went about things, he challenged quite a few of the conventions about the Premier League and introduced a new style of play that others have followed. It's a great test for where we are at the moment in terms of our development."
Postecoglou on the the Liverpool game, 'Do you relish it, two good sides up against each other?': "Yeah I thought similar to last week. Arsenal were in good form, we were in good form and it ended up being a fairly decent game of football, fairly high quality. You are looking for that tomorrow and the real emphasis for us at the moment is it has to be about our own development. Can we impose our style of football against another top class opponent that play different to last week's opponent and how much of ourselves can we show? The more we go through these tests and show ourselves it gives us the belief to keep going down this road and accelerating the growth. We're at home so not a small incidental thing but we've had seven official games so far including Carabao Cup and only had two at home so it shows a fair bit of resilience from this group that we've come through this period with a really strong level of performance and results. Being at home tomorrow will help us in that sense as well."
Ange Postecoglou on the club announcing a partnership with Socios for fan tokens and the backlash from supporters: "Firstly, I’ve got no idea what you’re talking about. Secondly, I’ve never felt it was my place. I’d hate to think there was a football matter and we’d get the head of commerce or the commercial area or marketing area to answer those questions. It would be disrespectful to me. There are plenty of good forums for that to be discussed and I’m not going to be involved in that."
Postecoglou on Yves Bissouma picking up 3 yellow cards in 6 games: "I think sometimes those things are just consequences of game state and the way things are going. I've never worried about talking to players about that area. If they're picking up sort of needless ones, if it's around dissent and things like that, then potentially you'd have a word. Biss has obviously become a really important part of what we're doing and we don't want him missing games, but there's certainly nothing there at the moment for me to specifically address him about it. He plays in an area of the park where there's a lot of action and he's involved in all of it which is brilliant for us. I'd hate for me to say something that curtails that because it's a big part of how the team is set up."

@CDEccleshare on how Micky van de Ven became one of Europe's most exciting defenders.
"I definitely agree with Messi. I've been with him [Romero] at the training ground this week and if I don't agree with Messi he'll come and get me! He's a wonderful player.
"He found it a little bit difficult since he arrived because of the way the team was playing — he was very exposed.
"This is not happening right now and he was one of the most important players for his country when they won the World Cup.
"He's also one of the most important players for us as well. He's been made vice-captain, which is another great thing for him." #THFC
9 James Maddison (new entry)
Everything that James Maddison touches seems to turn to goals, at the moment.
The Tottenham playmaker marked his first North London Derby appearance with two assists, as the rivals played out a 2-2 draw on Sunday afternoon.
For the first, Maddison spun around Arsenal's Bukayo Saka before expertly pulling the ball back to Son Heung-Min in the penalty area.
And then, in the second-half, the ex-Leicester City star picked the pocket of Jorginho before setting up his South Korean team-mate once more.
If his on-pitch performance wasn't impressive enough, his comments poking fun at rival Saka certainly pleased the Tottenham fanbase.
3 Son Heung-Min (up five)
We may never truly know if Salah wanted to leave Liverpool when the Saudi Pro League came knocking, but he's not shown any signs of it since.
While Saka was thoroughly impressive during the north London derby, he still wasn't the best winger on the pitch.
Tottenham captain Son Heung-Min also produced a brace on the day to earn his such a hard-earned point.
With one neat finish in the first-half and a calmly taken effort in the second, the 31-year-old stepped up when his side truly needed him.
That's five goals in six games as a striker for the South Korean, who has embraced his new-found responsibility under Ange Postecoglou.
He feels like a throw back on & off the pitch.
A genuine number 10 when that role & player feels like it’s becoming redundant in the modern game, and his cheeky chappy personality is great for us on TV!
"Tottenham are doing really well Ange seems to be a top bloke.
"No [I've not met him] yet. But I’m looking forward to meeting him. I'm pretty sure everyone knew already when you saw Celtic playing in recent years.
"What kind of coach he is and who he is as a coach coming out to Tottenham where I think they were all desperate for some offensive football and he’s delivering that obviously.
"In a year where Harry Kane left the club, he’s doing extremely well. They’re a well set up team. It's exciting to watch so yes, it will be a real test for both of us."
“It was probably the priority position when I came in because at the time it looked like Hugo was moving on and there was a need for a new starting goalkeeper. You get presented with some options and I just really liked Vic from the start in terms of the characteristics he has as a goalkeeper - his agility, his demeanour, his character. Then I spoke to him and he's just such an infectious personality. He was so determined. He was so determined he wanted to come to Tottenham and prove himself at the next level. If you look at his career, he hasn't had a long time at the top level, similar to Micky van de Ven and a couple of others. I like players who have worked their way up from a low level very quickly because it shows that they adapt very quickly but also that they're coachable, that they learn, and you look at Vic, and he's taken big steps very, very quickly and he's been absolutely outstanding for us in the first six or seven games. He's been a really strong influence on the field in the big moments when we've needed him and he comes in every day and wants to improve, and that's exactly what we need.”
“When I got the role I had a look at all the players who were out on loan last year and Destiny was one. I really liked his profile. Physically he's got outstanding attributes but he obviously played a different style of football in terms of a lot of times he was used as an attacking wing-back. He made a real impact in a tough league as a young man. Serie A is a tough league. He handled himself really well and it was one of those where as soon as we got him in I could see that he wants to improve every day. He's got outstanding attributes and for a 20-year-old he's already had some really big challenges defensively and he's handled himself so well. When he has the ball and he runs forward he looks exciting. I'm really pleased to have him in the group.”
🎙️| Postecoglou on his willingness to give young players a chance:
“It just depends. You've got to make sure young players are going to be able to handle what comes playing at this level. You certainly don't want to expose them too early because it can have a detrimental effect. I've always felt - and again it's something that's been consistent when I'm building teams - I try to give them as much security as I possibly can, for them to know that there's nothing that's going to happen out there that's going to be terminal in terms of their careers. Don't stress about the mistakes, don't stress about not playing well. I'll back you - as long as I'm seeing that you're improving and working hard and doing all the things I need you to do.' Because part of that stress as a young player is feeling like you need to play really well to keep your place in the team and fearing that if you make a mistake in front of the whole world that's going to cost you something. It's not just about the young players, all of us are in the same boat. We're setting off on a new course and there's potential it won't work. So we're all feeling the same. I'm no different to them, because I'm sure if after the first seven games, we were on two wins instead of four, I'm sure [the chairman] would be on at me right now. It's not how I think. It's not how I'm wired, I don't care about that. This is what we're doing. We're going to go down this road and be successful and I try to provide that framework so at least it releases that anxiety and they can play as themselves, and then it's up to them. There's no guarantee. If their performances drop, then of course they won't play but I think it helps the young players focus on being as much themselves without stressing too much about outcomes.”
"In terms of Sonny, it’s fair to say, and he’s said it himself, I don’t think he was 100 per cent fit last year, but that’s his nature, if asked to play, he will play and do his utmost. I think that probably affected his form more than anything else. Last year was a bit of a unique year for a lot of players because of the World Cup. I don’t think it was a normal year in many respects for top players. The quality Sonny has, there is no doubt… I don’t think I’ve done anything dramatic to him, I think he just feels better. He’s had a good pre-season and loves playing for this football club. I think the way we’re playing really suits him for where he’s at in his career. I’m sure there is more to come."
