He does like scoring against City and once again it was from an Ndombele pass before he fired home within the opening minutes to take him to the top of the Premier League goalscoring charts with nine - 11 overall from 14 games. Worked very hard throughout with little reward after that early goal. 7
A rock at the back who personified Spurs' warrior-like approach. Hobbled off ten minutes from the end clutching his groin in a worrisome development.
Heung-min Son 8
Scored a trademark goal with a darting run in behind to make the difference again. Unselfishly squared to an offside Kane in the first half when he probably should have shot.
Harry Kane (Tottenham). It was a classic team display with so many strong performances including Dier and Son but the skipper's unselfishness and work rate was a stand out. A lovely asisst to set up Lo Celso and he won his side so many free-kicks and 50-50 balls right up until the 90th minute. Kane is showing he is much more than just a prolific goal scorer.
Another goal against City for Son, made by a clever run and clinical finish. But his touch let him down for once in a similar situation after 62 minutes.
Heung-Min Son (LW) - 8/10 - Cold as ice in front of goal, converting his first sniff inside five minutes. A beautiful piece of control and a finish to match. Always looked to get in behind and stretch the defence.
Heung-min Son: 7 – Took his goal well early on and although Spurs struggled to get him in dangerous positions, he rounded Ederson in the second half too but just took it too wide.
Aside from a brilliant finish that led to the opener, Son Heung-Min was once again influential going forward. But, it was his work-rate and defensive commitment that impressed the onlookers while his combination play with Kane was also mesmerising once again.
Heung-min Son – 8.5 – Sonny does what he does best, scoring! A great finish between the keeper’s legs for the opener. However, Son also tracked back and did his defensive part for the team, as well as being the first to dart forward in possession.

Mourinho Masterclass Sends Spurs Top⠀
--⠀
Goals from Giovanni Lo Celso and Heung Min Son wrapped up all three points in a faultless Tottenham performance.⠀
--⠀
It took just five minutes to open the scoring after a lobbed Tanguy NDombele ball slotted in Heung Min Son who finished comfortably under Ederson.⠀
--⠀
Harry Kane should’ve doubled Tottenham’s lead shortly after, but the England international found himself needlessly offside following a brilliant attacking move.⠀
--⠀
Manchester City would’ve been level if not for the intervention of VAR, as Aymeric Laporte’s goal was ruled out following a Gabriel Jesus handball during the build-up.⠀
--⠀
Despite City dominating the ball and the statistics, a Tottenham counter led by Harry Kane saw Giovanni Lo Celso score with his first touch of the game after being brought on shortly after the hour mark. ⠀
--⠀
Ten corners, 22 shots and 67% possession for City was irrelevant as Tottenham defended excellently and gave the visitors absolutely no room to manoeuvre.⠀
--⠀
A smart, professional and tactically brilliant Spurs side means that Mourinho’s men will deservedly remain top of the league going into Sunday’s fixtures.⠀

Tottenham will next host Ludogorets in the Europa League before travelling to Stamford Bridge next weekend.

📈 @OptaJoe Tottenham will finish a day top of the Premier League table for the first time since August 2014, while it's the first time they've ended the day top of the top-flight this far into a campaign since January 1985 (23 games).
🗣 "They we just amazing, Harry Kane represents the spirit of all of the other guys". Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho was more than pleased with his teams' performance against Manchester City.
🇵🇹 Jose Mourinho speaking about the lack of time they had to work on their strategy ahead of today's game:
🗣 ”The players didn't have time to work but we had, myself, my assistants, the analysts & IT guys."
Mourinho on the Lo Celso sub:
🗣 "It's lucky. Credit to the player for a good finish.
🗣️ "No credit for the manager. He was going on to do the same job as Tanguy but credit to him for having fresh legs to stretch the opposition."
🗣 "That discipline is not just about a plan, it's about an emergency plan. In case somebody makes a mistake you have to ready for it. That discipline requires a great effort. I'm so proud of all of the players. They were fantastic."
--
Harry Kane 🗣🏴
🗣 "Whoever can put a good spell together has a chance of winning it. We've been on a good run. Hopefully we can keep it up."
Kane when told he was leading the game for most tackles made at one stage during the game:
🗣 ”I enjoy defending, I enjoy working hard, the feeling after the game putting in a great shift there is no better feeling".

🏴 Harry Kane⠀

Harry Kane recorded his ninth assist of the Premier League season as he continues his amazing start to the 2020/21 campaign.⠀
--⠀
Kane continues to flourish in a new deeper role he has found himself in, and It was from deep he picked up the ball and drove at the City defence before slotting in Giovanni Lo Celso.⠀
--⠀
The Argentine made it 2-0 following Heung Min Son’s opener where Kane ran to create the space for the Korean forward to exploit.⠀
--⠀
Kane’s assist is his 16th direct goal contribution this season in just nine games.⠀
--⠀
16 of Tottenham’s 21 Premier League goals have directly involved Harry Kane as they are the league’s top scorers.⠀
--⠀
This makes Kane’s goal contribution percentage an astonishing 1.77 per game.⠀

💬 Mourinho on Toby Alderweireld:⠀
⠀
🗣️ "It's bad. It's a muscular injury. We have three centre-backs in the Premier League but not in the Europa League where we don't have Joe Rodon. There's nobody to blame. He played in matches for Belgium they needed to win. It's just one of those things."⠀
⠀
According to Sky Sports 📝⠀
⠀
Jose Mourinho is concerned Toby Alderweireld will be out long-term with an apparent groin injury sustained in Tottenham's win over Manchester City.⠀
⠀
Alderweireld was holding his groin as he hobbled off and, at full-time, when asked if the knock was a potential long-term injury, Mourinho replied: "I would say so.⠀
⠀
Not good news after a great win...
