Wednesday will mark the longest fasting hours in Ramadan this year at 15 hours and 52 minutes, Egypt’s National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics said in a statement.
Starting Thursday, the fasting hours will decrease one minute each day until it drops down to 15 hours and 37 minutes on the last day of Ramadan, 16 July.
Temperatures in Cairo will reach highs of 32 and lows of 21 degree Celsius, on Wednesday, the seventh day of the Islamic holy month.
The temperatures have declined in the past three days around Egypt after a heatwave hit the country during the first three days of Ramadan, with temperatures hovering between 38 and 40 degrees.
Muslims abstain from food and drink during daylight hours, from sunrise to sunset during Ramadan.
The institute also said that Ramadan this year will last for 29 days, as the moon will appear as a half-moon on Wednesday, thus marking the end of the first quarter in the lunar month.

Salah al-Abd, Head of Confectionery Industry Division with the Federation of Chambers of Commerce, said that the market is witnessing a stagnation in sales of Eid al-Fitr by 20 percent, compared to last year.
Al-Abd told Al-Masry Al-Youm on Monday that the recession is due to the increase in the prices of confectionery due to the increase in the prices of flour, butter, sugar and nuts.
The highest number of confectionery buyers were companies, which buy the treats to distribute them as gifts to workers on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, he said; adding that 90 percent of companies were committed to the same quantity they bought last year.
The prices of confectionery increased by 15 percent compared to last year, Abd said.
Kahk prices start from LE85 per kilo, while Ghorayeba and biscuits start from LE75. The price of a package of Kahk at some confectioners has even reached as high as LE500.
