Well, #1 is difficult to talk about, because of course it strongly depends on what kind of books
one reads, how deep one understands the context of the books, and how carefully one reads them with
checking and clarifying each of difficult points. I think things are easier when one just skims
"shinsho"s (concise compact books) or paperbacks. However, in my understanding, 2, 3, and 4 would
be the cases for many people in areas of both natural sciences and humanities.

What is a challenging thing in writing a paper is how to collect and present meaningful content,
but not an English problem. Whether you chose writing in English or writing in Japanese is
simply a problem of to which journal you plan to submit your paper.
Well, #1 is difficult to talk about precisely, because it heavily depends on what kind of books
one reads, how deeply one understands the context of the books, and how carefully one reads them while
checking and examining the difficult points. It would be easier if one just skims
"shinsho"s (concise compact books) or paperbacks. However, in my opinion, 2, 3, and 4 would
hold for many people in areas of both natural sciences and humanities.
