Babel Fish Translation In English:
The national anthem is well-known as "Kimigayo". With the song text it concerns an old poem, which is contained in several poem collections, e.g. the Kokin wakashu (10th Jh.) or the Wakan roeishu (11 Jh.). Its author is unknown. In a sitting of parliament in the year 1999 Prime Minister Obuchi Keizo stated the official interpretation of the text: "Der term kimi in 'Kimigayo' designated under the current Japanese condition the emperor as symbol of the state and the unit of the people, whose position is derived from the will of the people, with whom the sovereigns power rests; Kimigayo' as a whole tells to be citizens of a country which has an emperor, whose position is derived from the will of the people, with whom the sovereigns power rests, and it is a symbol of this country and the unit of its people. It is therefore appropriately, the words of the national anthem as prayer for continuous prosperity and peace in our country too interpretieren."
