#thfc FT, 1-0. Brighton celebrate first home win of the season over an abject Spurs. Not sure that was any better than last season's 3-0 loss here, which was truly the nadir of Pochettino's tenure. https://twitter.com/Dan_KP/status/1355986032496435207
3 - José Mourinho has lost all three of his away league games against Brighton at the Amex Stadium, the first time he has ever lost three consecutive away league visits to an opponent in his managerial career. Declined. https://twitter.com/OptaJoe/status/1355986922628378627
Yves Bissouma (Brighton). It takes a special player to contain Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in midfield, but Bissouma kept the whole Spurs midfield quiet for 90 minutes. An imperious display in the middle.
The South Korean international was Mourinho’s best hope for a goal today. However, he squandered some good chances and was toothless in front of the Brighton goal.

Tottenham travel to the South coast to face relegation threatened Brighton as they attempt to keep pace with the top four.⠀
--⠀
Both sides come into the game off the back of disappointing home performances as Tottenham’s leaky defence allowed Liverpool to take all three points, and Brighton’s inability to finish chances meant they were held to a scoreless draw with relegation rivals Fulham.⠀
--⠀
Tottenham have won five of their seven Premier League meetings against Brighton but have only managed one victory away from home against the Sussex outfit.⠀
--⠀
Brighton are winless in their last 14 Premier League home games whereas Tottenham are prolific on the road, losing just one of their last 12 away Premier League matches.⠀
--⠀
The main focal point in the Tottenham side will be if they can cope without the absence of Harry Kane, as the striker faces another spell on the sidelines after injuring his ankle against Liverpool, but Jose Mourinho has urged his attacking players to “step up” and has highlighted that this is a “crucial spell” for Gareth Bale.⠀
--⠀
The Welsh loanee scored the winner the last time the two sides met, and this is perhaps the best opportunity to date for Bale to make a major impact.⠀
--⠀
Sergio Reguilon will remain absent through injury for at least a few weeks along with Harry Kane, and midfielders Giovanni Lo Celso and Dele Alli are both doubtful as they are still recovering from their respected injuries.

📰 Telefoot 💬 Kylian Mbappé to Tanguy Ndombele: 🗣️ "Nice goal recently! You know that I would prefer you to score in a different shirt than the one you currently wear!"⠀
--⠀
Ndombele: 🗣️ "I am a boy from the Paris region. Wearing the Paris jersey one day why not. After today I'm at Tottenham, and it's going well, " he said.⠀
--⠀
🗣️ "Yes, I spoke with Kylian about a possible coming to PSG. 2, 3 years in a row we discussed it. It didn't happen and today at Tottenham it's going well, but why not."

💬 Tanguy Ndombele on his first season at Spurs and his turn around: 🗣️ "My first season was tough, I questioned myself a lot, now the page is turned... It is true that at a certain moment I wanted to leave, I didn't feel in the right place. I told them I wanted out. They didn't want me to go." ⠀
—⠀
🗣️ "I think that Mourinho has shown that he can make me a top Premier League player. Between last year's Tanguy and this year's Tanguy I think there is a difference." ⠀
—⠀
🗣️ "At the beginning it was going very well. Then there were injuries, and we went to war. Well, not really war because he is the coach, I respect. I have a strong character, and he may have one stronger than me "

WOEFUL TOTTENHAM HAND BRIGHTON FIRST HOME WIN OF THE SEASON
—
Leandro Trossard scored the only goal of the game, as Tottenham lacked creativity and impetus in the absence of Harry Kane.
—
The goal came as Tottenham were left exposed on the right wing and Pascal Gross found Trossard in space on the penalty spot, and the winger buried the ball into the bottom right corner.
—
The Sussex side dominated throughout the majority of the game, and Spurs only began to look like any sort of threat midway through the second half, as Carlos Vinicius was given a chance after the break.
—
Brighton had multiple opportunities to extend their lead as Aaron Connolly and Neal Maupay missed good chances, but Tottenham’s defence held firm to keep the margin at one.
—
Tottenham’s best chance to earn anything from the match came during a little flurry of shots after 75 minutes, but Roberto Sanchez denied both Vinicius and Heung Min Son to end Brighton’s dismal home form.
—
The defeat makes it back to back losses for Tottenham who are finding life tough under Mourinho more than ever, but will next host the bosses former club Chelsea on Thursday.
