Men such as Simon Bolivar and Jose de San Martin, the legendary Libertabores, lead South America to independence. Just it when it looked like local interests would lead to a collapse in the unity felt during the war of independence, fresh efforts by the Bourbon Kingdom to re-establish control forced the competing elites to cooperate. The crucible of conflict forged a South American Identity. However the young country still had problems and as the 19th centaury drew to a close the widening social inequalities lead to rising discontent. Finally in the 1920s the discontent reached it痴 peak and the old order was swept away and new communist state emerged. Ready to export its revolution north, the revolutionary government was left friendless in the Western hemisphere. ;;;;;;;;;X

Quickly realising that territory was the key to being consider great Japan embarked on a programme of expansion. Firstly looking north towards the decaying Ming Empire Japan began to carve out concessions for itself, until Russian policy made the Japanese seek the lest line of resistance and turned South towards the various pacific islands abandoned by the colonial powers during the turmoil of the early 19th centaury. However this line of expansion lead quickly lead to conflict with Australasia and this Japan did not want. The Japanese came to an accommodation, of sorts, with their Southern neighbours and with both sides feeling they had a reasonable buffer a peace of sorts was agreed. The Japanese once again turned North, as growing Russian influence in Manchuria and Korea, left them fearful for the security of the home islands. The Russo-Japanese war was a brutal affair and just when it looked like Japan would be bankrupted by its efforts, revolution struck in Russia. Giving the Japanese total victory and security on its northern border. However just when it seemed that Japan had reached its goals the spectre of internal disorder hit the country, as many of the poorer in society were increasingly left behind in Japan痴 march to glory. Growing factionalism in the army and navy and a decline of the effectiveness of domestic politics left Japan facing growing internal chaos. Unable to contain the revolutionary forces, a communist revolution hit the army. Initially believing that the Emperor just didn稚 know what was going on and once the revolutionaries showed him what was going everything would be find. However there were none more conservative than the Imperial court and the revolution quickly radicalised itself into a full-blown revolutionary republic. ;;;;;;;;;X

The loss of the American colonies was initially not much of a loss overall, the level of trade continued to underpin the rising prosperity of the united Kingdom and the strong royal ties lead to the Danish Monarchy also coming into personal Union with the British crown. This enhanced British security for it痴 other Royal Domain, Hanover, and lead to the passing of the Salic Law to keep the dynastic block together. This lead to Edward痴 daughter Victoria being disinherited and Ernest August, Duke of Cumberland, becoming heir to the throne. Ernest was highly unpopular with the British public, and politically extreme Tory leaving him dsitinctly out of touch which popular poltical mood. Fortune would still favour Britain with the Dutch monarchy also falling into it痴 lap, giving it a compact mass of terrotry in Northern Europe. When the Chartist agitation began it would be Ernest who be the strongest advocate of supression and would lead troops in person to aid in the supression of the revolt. Although ultimately sucessful in the suppression, the settler conolnies in Australia and New Zealand and the Dutch terrotry in the cape would leave the Kingdom. The seizing of Austrian Belgium to fastall revolution would not compensate for this and the loss of India after the mutiny would leave a Kingdom that was ruled by an unpopular government and short on international rpestige. The government would face rising nationalistic revolts, but a policy oif divide and rule would allow the government to keep a lid on discontent. However the rise of solcailism would allow the various nationalistic movement to align behind a single leader and a massed revolution followed. The new state, the Union of European Soviets (named after the soviets of the falied Russian Revolution) arose and was ready to export its revolution to its neighbours. ;;;;;;;;;X

;Unsuccessful revolutions in both the Bourbon Kingdom and the United Kingdom would leave the African Colonies of these nations independent and with white minority governments. They quickly united together to avoid being picked off by their former mother countries and looked towards the exploitation of the Dark Continent. As the 19th centaury drew to a close the White Minority government realised that they would need a strong industrial base to maintain their independence in an increasing expansionistic world. However this very act would also sow the seeds of the end of the white minority rule as the only way to do this would be to create a black working class. The early years of the 20th centaury would see the creation of the African National Congress lead by the former Emperors of Ethiopia, seen as many in the black community as symbols of resistance for their long efforts to resist Ottoman rule. Finally the damn would burst and an ANC government would take power. Quickly (and wisely) making some concession to the White minority who still staffed key positions in both Industry and the military, the new state began to consolidate. Although faced with hostile states to the North, conflict seems inevitable.;;;;;;;;;X
