The decoherence time for flux charge has never been measured yet ( about 2003 ). In general, estimates here are more optimistic than those for charge qubits. Decoherence times as large as milliseconds have been estimated.
The merit of the 3-junction geometry is that it’s possible to make the decoherence time far smaller than that of rf-SQUID with proper self-inductance L, so that it enables to be less sensitive to noises introduced by inductive coupling to the environment.
Nevertheless, measuring devices joined to qubits are predicted to destructively work on quantum coherence in all designs for now ( about 2003 ).
