At shortstop, Garciaparra made a fine play on a grounder into the hole off the bat of Eric Owens in the first. He backhanded the ball, then threw sidearm to first to nail the speedy Owens on a bang-bang play.
"That play was pretty big, and I was glad I was able to do that," Garciaparra said. "That's the kind of play I want to make instinctively. I made it, and I didn't have to think about the Achilles'."
