I heard a joke in French once. My French is good enough to understand the
joke, but not good enough to reproduce it in the original French.
A man volunteers for an experimental brain surgery. They remove a quarter
of his brain, and ask him a question (I don't remember what the question
is), which he answers. They then remove another quarter of his brain, and
ask him the question again, and he answers. They remove one more quarter,
leaving only one quarter of his brain, and ask him the question again, at
which point he responds, (in English) "I'm sorry, I can only speak English
now."
I would be most grateful if somebody could post or e-mail me the complete
joke in French.
