イエーィツの代表作「イニスフリーの湖島」の詩
I will arise and go now, and go to Innisfree,
And a small cabin build there, of clay and wattles made:
Nine bean-rows will I have there, a hive for the honey bee,
And live alone in the bee-loud glade.
And I shall have some peace there, for peace comes dropping slow,
Dropping from the veils of the morning to where the cricket sings;
There midnight's all a glimmer, and noon a purple glow,
And evening full of the linnet's wings.
I will arise and go now, for always night and day
I hear lake water lapping with low sounds by the shore;
While I stand on the roadway, or on the pavement grey,
I hear it in the deep heart's core.
Mine be a cot beside the hill;
A bee-hive's hum syall soothe my year;
A willowy brook that turns a mill,
With many a fall syall linger near.
The swallow,oft,beneath my thatch
Syall twitter from her clay-built nest;
Oft shall the pilgrim lift the lantch,
And share my meal,a welcom guest.
Around my vivied porch shall spring
Each fragrant flower that drinks tha dew:
And luky,at her wheel,shall sing
In russet-gown and apron blue.
The village-church among teh trees,
Where first our marriage-vows were given,
With merry peals shall swell the breeze
And point with taper spire to
Heaven.
Old Age Edmund Waller
The seas quiet when the winds give o'er;
So calm are we when passions are no more.
For then we know vain it was to boast
Of fleeting thigs, so certain to be lost.
Clouds of affection from our younger eyes
Conceal that emptiness which age descries.
The soul's dark cottage, battered and decayed,
Lets in new light through chinks that Time has made:
Stronger by weakness, wiser men become
As they draw near to their eternal home.
Leaving the old, both worlds at once they view
That stand upon the threshold of the new.
