Japan is criticized over the so called comfort women problem which was happened in the war. Koreans against
Japan over the comfort women issue said that they, prostitutes for Japanese military, were forced into prostitution
as a form of sexual slavery by the Japanese military organization. Korean-Americans built a Comfort Women statue
in Glendale in California in 2013. The Comfort Women story is so sad. But criminals were not the Japanese soldiers.
Bruce Cumings wrote in his book as follows: “Many Korean women were mobilized to serve (as prostitutes) by Korean
men.”Many researchers and scholars have studied the issues, but what they found were very different from the Korean
accusations. Please read some newspaper article which were published in wartime.
(1)Japanese police in Korea rescued about 50 women who were being mobilized as prostitutes to North China and
Manchuria by a Korean human trafficking gang, published in 1939 March 28 by the Dong-a Ilbo newspaper.

しかし、この本に記述されている城山浦の貝ボタン工場で15~16人を強制徴用
したり、法環里などあちこちの村で行われた慰安婦狩りの話を裏づけ証言する
人はほとんどいない。
However, there are no witnesses to prove that 15 - 16 women were forced into being drafted at the shell button factory in
城山浦(Seogwipo-si?) as written in this book.
島民たちは「でたらめだ」と一蹴し、この著述の信ぴょう性に対して強い疑問を投げかけている。
The islanders deny what's written, claiming it's a "made up" story, and they have been showing their suspicion over the unauthenticity.
城山里の住民のちょん・たんさん(85歳の女性)は
「そんなことはなかった。250余の家しかないこの村で、15人も徴用したすれば 大事件であるが、当時そんな事実はなかった」と語った。
The inhabitant of 城山里(Seongsani-ri?), Chong Tang, 85 years old, told us "There was no such thing. There are only more
than 250 houses in this village, and if they had drafted 15 women, it would have been a major incident, but there was nothing
like that in those days."
郷土史学者の金奉玉氏は「(略)83年に原本(私の戦争犯罪…)が出た時何年かの間追跡調査した結果、事実無根の部分もあった。
Kim Hogyoku, a local historian, showed her indignation saying, "...As a result of the follow-up survey I've done for a few years
after the original book - My war crime...- was published in 1983, some groundless parts were found in the book.
むしろ日本人の悪徳ぶりを示す道徳性の欠けた本で、軽薄な商魂が加味されていると思われる」と憤慨した。
Rather, it was the kind of a book which lacks morality since the intention was to show Japanese vice by tinging the author's
frivolous commercial enthusiasm."
When Lee Seung-duk, who went to the United States as plenipotentiary during the Joseon Dynasty,
came into contact with each ethnic group, he found that Koreans were inferior to the Indians
despised by Americans, and inferior to other ethnic groups such as Mexico and India.
Shocked by that he said:
"With the present Korean competence, Korea is not able to save it from disgrace as an independent
nation definitely.We cannot avoid losing our country as it stands now.
The only way left for us to escape from becoming a people without a country is to merge into
another country. And Japan is the only country that annexes Korea.
Westerners think Koreans as dogs or pigs, but Japan does not.
I don't like the Japanese trying to give a sermon to us with the Japanese morality, but this is
because the Japanese think Koreans are the same human as themselves.
And the Japanese are the only qualified people to guide the Koreans and make them participate in
the civilization of the world.
Other than that, there is no way for the Korean people to escape from the life of pigs and receive
their happiness as humans.
It is strange that Japan-Korea consolidation should be a problem. My view of annexation between
Japan and Korea was based on the Western view of Koreans. "
