1.seventeen As a way to meet the Government's 2011 expansion focus on, and so begin to erode the long run structural expansion hole, Scotland's economic expansion demands to speed up. The Council notes the shortterm expansion differential between the Scottish and Uk economies widened while in the second half of 2007, achieving 1.1 proportion points while in the fourth quarter of 2007 (see Chart 1.three). This differential has since narrowed given that the Uk economic system has decelerated even more sharply than the Scottish economic system, nevertheless the UKScotland expansion hole continues to be shut to its longterm standard (0.7 proportion points while in the second quarter of 2008).
