⚽️ Son Heung-min (20) moved a goal closer to Mo Salah (22) at the weekend, in the race for the #PL Golden Boot, but the Egyptian can move further ahead in #AVLLIV tonight.
Conte on injury news: "The situation is the same and the same of the last game against Liverpool. Reguilon is not available and I don't think he can recover. There is only 10 days to go. Only the same players as Liverpool." https://twitter.com/AlasdairGold/status/1524017994728357889
Conte on Klopp: "We analysed after and if there was one team that should have won it was Spurs. I think Jurgen realised Liverpool gained a point rather than losing two. It's important to be focused on your team after the game rather than look for an alibi over what went wrong." https://twitter.com/AlasdairGold/status/1524018507997925376
Conte: "I have respect for Jurgen and I know he respects me a lot and this is a good chance for him and me to learn that during the game you never have to speak about your opponent. It is important to be focused on your team." https://twitter.com/AlasdairGold/status/1524018927944318977
Plenty from Conte on the quick turnaround for Spurs between the Arsenal and the Burnley matches. He's seemingly not happy that the club accepted the Sunday lunchtime kick-off and seems to suggest that it's not what big clubs do. Quotes in the blog below. https://twitter.com/AlasdairGold/status/1524019855619465216
Conte on facing Arsenal now: "It was very strange that our game was postponed for Covid and Arsenal didn't have one player with Covid. We lost a game 3-0 because the Premier League didn't want to move a game when we had 10 players with Covid. https://twitter.com/AlasdairGold/status/1524021307544944642
"At that time it was unfair, this is the past and we have to be focused on the present, to try to get the best result. I think this could be a good chance for us to get three points against the whole team." https://twitter.com/AlasdairGold/status/1524021311630192640
Tottenham predicted lineup vs Arsenal (3-4-3)
Lloris:Romero,Dier,Davies:Emerson,Bentancur,Hojbjerg,Sessegnon:Kulusevski,Kane,Son
Son Heung-min (LF) - The Spurs hero once again at the weekend. Son has now scored 20 non-penalty goals in another remarkable season for the South Korean.
Since the start of the 2020/21 season, 163 players have attempted 100+ non-penalty shots in Europe's top five leagues.
Top five for conversion rate:
◎ 25.4% - Son Heung-Min
◉ 25.3% - Erling Haaland
◎ 22.6% - Kevin Volland
◎ 22.5% - Patrik Schick
◎ 22.1% - Robert Lewandowski
🎙| Simon Jordan on @talkSPORT when asked who is more attractive #Spurs or Arsenal:
“ I think it is Spurs even without Champions League football. Arsenal may be in the Champions League and then will be in the Europa League pretty shortly after.”
Antonio Conte: "Our fans have to push us from the start until the end. In positive moments or negative moments they have to show to stay with us and overcome this obstacle together.”
Antonio Conte: "Tottenham, for sure, are missing something because Tottenham have dropped, no? If you compare Tottenham to 3,4,5 years ago this moment has dropped…"

7 - Tottenham are unbeaten in their last seven home league games against Arsenal (W5 D2), their longest such run against their north London rivals since a run of nine between 1960 and 1968. Feud. https://twitter.com/OptaJoe/status/1524810068834787328
📊 Hugo Lloris makes his 20th PL North London app, the most for a single side (Ray Parlour made 19)
Heung-Min Son has scored 7 more PL goals than Harry Kane this season - the last player other than Kane to be Spurs’ top PL scorer was Emmanuel Adebayor in 13-14
Rob Holding is the 7th Arsenal player to be shown a red card in their 30 PL matches at Tottenham, joining
Stefan Schwarz
Martin Keown
Freddie Ljungberg
Emmanuel Eboue
Francis Coquelin
Lucas Torreira https://twitter.com/SkySportsStatto/status/1524832913719709707
Antonio Conte couldn't have wished for a better half. Harry Kane has bagged twice and Arsenal find themselves a man down after Rob Holding was sent off for a second bookable offence
4 - Rob Holding made four fouls against Spurs leading up to his dismissal, with all four of them coming on Son Heung-min. His four fouls are the most he has ever made in a Premier League game, despite only playing 33 minutes. Unrestrained. https://twitter.com/OptaJoe/status/1524836876821090318
21 - Son Heung-min has scored 21 non-penalty goals in the Premier League this season, with only Harry Kane ever netting more goals, excluding penalties, in a single season in the competition for Spurs (28 in 2017-18 and 24 in 2016-17). Volume. https://twitter.com/OptaJoe/status/1524840370869260288
🇰🇷 Son Heung-Min created more chances (3), completed more accurate crosses (2/2) and suffered more fouls (5) than any other player for either Tottenham or Arsenal in the first 45 minutes.
🇺🇾 Rodrigo Bentancur was 100% in his passing completion (17/17), attacking third passes (6/6), accurate long balls (1/1) and completed his dribbles (1/1) in the first 45 minutes against Arsenal.
🇰🇷 Heung-min Son created more chances (4) and suffered more fouls (5) than any other player for either Tottenham or Arsenal in the 72 minutes he was on.
Gary Neville says Son is too much of a professional to be visibly annoyed at being substituted right before Son is visibly annoyed at being substituted. Never doubt the strength of a narrative. https://twitter.com/Tactical_Times/status/1524846430153756690
#thfc FT, 3-0. Conte punches the air with both fists after a massive win for Spurs, who close the gap to Arsenal to a point & have the momentum & confidence for the final two games. What began as a hugely tense occasion could scarcely have ended more comfortably for the hosts. https://twitter.com/Dan_KP/status/1524851279146668032
#thfc Arsenal have lost the battle but they can still win the war. That MNF game at Newcastle (their last at SJP in a landmark season) now looks really tricky if Spurs can leapfrog them on Sunday with a win over Burnley. Big job for Arteta to lift his players. https://twitter.com/Dan_KP/status/1524851633246674944
It really is incredible to think that Spurs open the weekend’s Premier League action in 62 hours. But it’s a chance to pile the pressure on with another win and move into the top four #THFC https://twitter.com/jonathandveal83/status/1524853743187017728
FT: #THFC 3 Arsenal. Spurs close the gap to a single point with a dominant victory. A performance of poise and clear thinking against a team who completely imploded. Brilliant, brilliant night for Spurs! https://twitter.com/CDEccleshare/status/1524851068483649537
FT 3-0. Big win for Spurs. The best win in the new stadium? Just how big will be revealed next week, depending on what happens in the other games. You'd probably still make Arsenal narrow favourites. But a big night for Spurs nonetheless. https://twitter.com/JackPittBrooke/status/1524851848544403459
I think Spurs have played better than this at times this season, but for me this was all about efficiency + intelligence. Started slowly but they were much smarter. Arsenal lost their heads, Spurs kept theirs and took their chances. Is it 'winning mentality'? Or just experience? https://twitter.com/JackPittBrooke/status/1524851851551772673
That gulf was summed up by Son v Holding. I saw Neville said "Son played Holding like a little boy".
It really reminds me of that great line from The Departed: "Shoot a cop Einstein, see what happens!" That was basically it. 'Shoulder me in the face Einstein, see what happens!'
After this win, it's more likely than not Spurs will finish the season with 70 points or not far off it. That's a big improvement on last two seasons. And especially significant given how poor they were for the first 10 games under Nuno. https://twitter.com/JackPittBrooke/status/1524855776686358532
It might not be enough for fourth. Arsenal might well finish with 72 points. If they do, they obviously deserve fourth. But if you'd said when Conte arrived that Spurs would finish around 70, you'd say he'd done a great job given how Spurs had to play catch-up. https://twitter.com/JackPittBrooke/status/1524855778984841216
That was a pretty grim night for Arsenal but their task is still straightforward and in their own hands. Win against Newcastle and Everton and they are in the Champions League. They will have to be better than they were here, though. https://twitter.com/philmcnulty/status/1524855064405458957
Match report: Tottenham 3 Arsenal 0. Harry Kane is king of North London as ten man Arsenal self destruct in the most spectacular fashion. Tottenham were as good as Arsenal were bad. Shift in top four momentum https://twitter.com/johncrossmirror/status/1524856265909968896
This short story is my good deed for day cos I know it’ll cheer you up. Left home to go to Spurs-Arsenal with @thekevinmay . Sat in jam on M40 for 3 hours, drove as fast as is legal. Got to ground at ht. Stewards wouldn’t let us in cos it was ‘too late’. Have had better evenings https://twitter.com/OllieHolt22/status/1524853205846437893
FT 3-0 #thfc An emphatic win for Spurs which means the top four race will go down to the wire. A dreadful night for Arsenal - Monday's trip to Newcastle now looks much tougher. https://twitter.com/JamesOlley/status/1524850897863548929
A classic derby with Conte's fingerprints all over it. Passion, controversy and chaos. Right up his street. And the race for the top four now wide open as #THFC can go 4th before #AFC play again #TOTARS https://twitter.com/pbsportswriter/status/1524851463851212800
Has to be said as well, not a great result for the teams at the bottom as #THFC will be right up for Sunday's game against #BurnleyFC and #AFC may need to beat #EFC on the final day... https://twitter.com/pbsportswriter/status/1524851862004023307

Tottenham's 3-0 win against Arsenal is their biggest #NLD victory in the Premier League and their largest league win against the Gunners since 1983 (5-0).

Tottenham totally in control of this one practically all night. The saving grace for Arsenal is that 3-0 feels bad tonight, probably tomorrow too, maybe for a while, but it won't go down in legend. Got wound up by Holding's constant fouling early on, taking a kick to the back, but he kept on battling. He was pushed to give Spurs' their penalty, then sent in the corner that led to the hosts' second goal and fired home himself two minutes into the second half. Seemed unhappy to come off late on, maybe feeling he could have got more goals, but Conte was thinking about Sunday and Burnley. 8
Involved in all three goals and the sending off as he continued his superb form and moving to within a goal of Mohamed Salah in the race for the Golden Boot. The Premier League player of the run-in?
Heung-min Son – 8 – Bright movement early on and he was tormenting Rob Holding for all of the 33 minutes he was on the field. Got the Arsenal man sent off with his direct play, caused Arsenal’s other players issues with his runs and then bagged the third goal with a cool finish. Looked distraught as he was subbed off early with the Golden Boot in his sights.
Son Heung-min – 7.5 – Just pipped to our top rating by partner in crime Kane, Son caused Arsenal problems from start to finish tonight, winning a penalty, pushing Holding into a red card, and even getting on the scoresheet himself.
Son Heung-Min (Tottenham). Kane will get the headlines for his brace but Son was the player Arsenal simply could not handle. Holding’s red card is testament to that as he capped another live-wire showing with a goal that moves him to within one of Mo Salah in the race to be the Premier League’s top marksman.
PLAYER RATINGS
SPURS: Lloris 7, Emerson Royal 8, Sanchez 8, Dier 8, Davies 8, Hojbjerg 8, Bentancur 8, Sessegnon 8, Kulusevski 8, Son 9, Kane 9.
Tottenham Hotspur (3-4-2-1): H Lloris 7 — D Sánchez 7, E Dier 7, B Davies 7 (J Rodon 81) — E Royal 7, R Bentancur 7, P Hojbjerg 7, R Sessegnon 7 — D Kulusevski 7 (L Moura 72), S Heung-min 8 (S Bergwijn 72)— H Kane 7. Booked Davies.

Heung-min Son: 8.5 – Scored a great goal, fouled by Holding as the Arsenal man was sent off and won the penalty kick. A constant threat as the only way Arsenal could stop him was to hack him down.
Son 8: Ran riot down the left and gave Holding nightmares spinning in behind. Smart finish through crowded area to make it 3-0, should have had a second from close range. Looks likely to beat out Salah for golden boot.
Arsenal fans must be sick of the sight of the South Korean, who moved just one goal behind Mohamed Salah in the race to be top scorer. His movement saw Tottenham win a penalty after just 20 minutes, his corner was pinpoint for the second, and his goal just after half-time killed off an already dead tie. Add to the anguish he caused Rob Holding for both cards - the defender will be having nightmares for weeks.
Son Heung-min 9/10
Sonny sits just a goal behind Mo Salah in the race to win the Golden Boot after his second-half goal against the Gunners. He also drew the foul from Cédric Soares that led to Kane’s successful penalty in the 22nd minute.
Heung-min Son: Caused Holding plenty of problems which led to the dismissal of the Arsenal player in the first half. Scored his 21st Premier League goal of the season to put him one behind Mo Salah – nearly had a second in an almost carbon-copy from Anfield. 8.
Son Heung-min - 9: Took some heavy treatment from Holding that ended with Arsenal man sent-off. Earned Spurs penalty when barged over by Soares. Poked home third after good work from Kane and ballooned another chance over bar. Fuming at substitution when he clearly wanted more goals.
Son Heung-min: 9/10
Son was instrumental in getting Holding sent off and winning the penalty. While both decisions were questionable, there was a bite to the South Korean’s game, who constantly troubled the Arsenal defenders. He did get the reward for the hard work by scoring the third goal, which brings him closer to Mohamed Salah in the Golden Boot race.

23 - Including shoot-outs, Harry Kane has converted each of his last 23 penalty attempts in all competitions for Spurs since having an attempt saved against Liverpool in February 2018 (Loris Karius). Mastered. https://twitter.com/OptaJoe/status/1525809399771631617
🇺🇾 Rodrigo Bentancur completed/attempted more attacking third passes (23/27) and won more defensive aerial duels (5/6) than any other Tottenham player against Burnley.
🇨🇴 Davinson Sánchez completed more passes (84/91), completed more successful dribbles (2/2), made more successful ball recoveries (10) and made more successful headed clearances (3/3) than any other Tottenham player against Burnley.
Tested Pope with a low shot at his near post from out wide and the keeper palmed away a close range effort from the South Korean not long after the hour mark. Forced the Burnley stopper into another close range save with eight minutes of normal time remaining. Got into plenty of great positions but couldn't find a way through, which summed up Tottenham's front three on the day as they needed a penalty to break the deadlock. 6
When his opportunities came, Pope twice saved brilliantly to deny him the chance to close the gap to Mohamed Salah in the race for the Golden Boot. He will consider the three points more important.
Nick Pope. If it wasn’t for Pope, Spurs could have been out of sight long before the penalty. He produced countless saves, some routine and some quite remarkable. Kane and Son, two of the most prolific finishers in the league, were left wondering how many more times they would have to bang their heads against the brick wall that was the Burnley goalkeeper. With performances like that, not only from Pope but from the team collectively, their chances of survival are still alive and kicking. However, defeat does leave them in a predicament and there is no shying away from that fact. The clock is ticking, the tension is rising, but the belief will remain unwavered based on the character shown by the Clarets today.
PLAYER RATINGS
Spurs: Lloris 6, Sanchez 6, Dier 6, Davies 6, Emerson 6, Hojbjerg 6, Bentancur 6, Sessegnon 7, Lucas 6, Son 7, Kane 7.
Left-forward – Son Heung-min – 6.5
Looking to score at least one more goal to draw level with Mo Salah in the Golden Boot race, Son Heung-min had a couple of good chances on Sunday. Set up twice by Sessegnon in the box with cutback passes, Son hit the target but was twice denied by a strong arm from Pope. Sonny hit the mark but could not convert.
Heung-min Son – 7 – Far from his best performance of the season, as he drifted in and out of the game. However, he did have two great chances to draw level with Salah in the Golden Boot race, but failed to find the back of the net.
Son Heung-min - 7: Nearly caught out Pope with low shot to near post but keeper scrambled for corner. Twice must have thought he’d scored in second half only for Pope to produce two superb stops
Heung-Min Son - 7/10
Heung-Min Son had a decent game for Tottenham but was unlucky not to have scored a goal. The 29-year-old was denied a goal by Nick Pope on various occasions. Son was a constant threat upfront and created four chances throughout the game.
Son Heung-min: 6.5/10
Son came into the game knowing a goal was going to take him level with Mohamed Salah on top of the scoring charts in the Premier League. But the South Korean forward endured a frustrating afternoon, as chances did not fall his way in the first half. Son produced two smashing efforts in the second period, but Nick Pope stood in his way. He now has just one game to win the Golden Boot.

Excellent by the lads tonight, once again showing what we are capable of. @nufc
I hope you enjoyed that one tonight @spursofficial fans 😂 https://www.instagram.com/p/CdoopJYjTHg/
Dier: Ever since the arrival of Antonio Conte, Dier has been ever-present in the Tottenham line-up. I can't say he's my favourite defender, but his performance against Arsenal in the north London derby remained professional when some around him were starting to lose their heads. It would appear that Conte has built his defence around Dier in a three-man line that seems to be working for Spurs at the moment.
Did you know? Dier has won 133 Premier League games with Tottenham. Only Harry Kane (156) and Hugo Lloris (191) have won more times with the club in the competition.
Kane: Two superbly taken goals against Arsenal in the north London derby are not to be sniffed at. Neither was the penalty scored against a superb Nick Pope in the Burnley goal to clinch the game and give Spurs a top-four spot. Whether Tottenham can retain that position rather depends on their neighbours who were badly wounded by Kane and then totally destroyed by Son Heung-min. Whether Arsenal can beat Newcastle without centre-backs Rob Holding or Gabriel - two casualties of the derby - remains to be seen, but Kane has given Spurs a great chance of playing Champions League football next season.
Did you know? Excluding shootouts, Kane has scored each of the past 21 penalties he has taken in all competitions for Tottenham, and each of his past 15 in the Premier League.
It has been an excellent week for Antonio Conte's side, who have picked up seven points from a possible nine against Liverpool, Arsenal and Burnley, conceding just one goal in the meantime. Dier is someone who has been vital to that run, putting in some superb defensive performances.
The 28-year-old has become a vital part of the Spurs team since Conte's arrival and he put in another impressive display in the win over the Clarets, recording one interception, and three clearances. But it was his work in possession which caught the eye, with Dier completing 90 passes with a success rate of 88%.
LEFT FORWARD: Heung-min Son (Tottenham)
Enjoying comfortably his best goalscoring season in English football and this term it really has been Son and Kane rather than Kane and Son. May still end up with the Golden Boot having all but wiped out Mo Salah’s seemingly unassailable lead. Like everyone is obliged to, he has insisted he is giving no thought to that individual bauble, but his reaction to being subbed off against broken and beaten Arsenal on Thursday night betrayed the truth. Also stands alongside De Bruyne as perhaps the division’s most truly two-footed player and arguably out on his own right now as its most clinical finisher.
"I would immediately try to get Kane at FC Bayern. For me, he is a complete striker who scores goals every game at Tottenham, a very good but not a world-class team. If he plays in a team like Bayern, I think he'd be a great replacement at a very good age."
🇰🇷Tottenham Hotspur forward Heung-Min Son on Harry Kane’s penalties:
“I see only the net. He’s the only one, the best of the penalty takers. You could trust him at any moment, 60 minutes, 96, in the last seconds, you can trust him easily.”
Tottenham earned a massive 1-0 win over Burnley on Sunday afternoon as Harry Kane tucked past Nick Pope from 12 yards on the stroke of half time. Spurs were made to work hard for all the spoils on home turf with Davinson Sanchez putting in an assured display against the Clarets. Stepping in for the injured Cristian Romero at the back, Sanchez made three clearances, two tackles and one interception in a clean-sheet attaining performance, and found a teammate with 92.3% from 91 passes, to make the team with a WhoScored rating of 7.60.

🚨 NEW: Paulo Dybala keeps asking friends and colleagues for information on living in London. This does not rule out Inter Milan but suggests he is evaluating all possibilities. Champions League football is a crucial factor for him. | @GiovaAlbanese https://twitter.com/Daily_Hotspur/status/1526894367415357446
No Thank you...
go to arsenal or chelsea!
A street-smart forward who soaked up the early fouls from Rob Holding to then contribute to his sending off in the north London derby.
Fortunate to get away with an elbow early on but showed his class once more, winning the dubious penalty before getting on the scoresheet himself.
Could well have taken the lead in the race for the Golden Boot had Nick Pope not brilliantly denied him twice in Sunday's win over Burnley.
But with the top four pretty much secure and Norwich away on the final day, the South Korean could well add an individual award to cap off a fine season.

Brentford’s Vitaly Janelt has labelled Tottenham’s Heung-min Son as his toughest opponent this season.
“He has an incredible drive, is technically strong, one-on-one and on crosses, can shoot with his right and left foot. For me, he is the complete player.”
LW: Heung-min Son
The only Tottenham player to make the Team of the Season, Heung-min Son has, in many parts of the 2021-22 Premier League season, outshone his strike partner for Spurs and very rarely has failed to stand up and be counted when their backs were against the wall, unlike Kane. Son also became the first Asian player to ever reach the 20-goal mark in the top flight of English football during his run of form this season, and his stock continues to rise; not as Kane’s right-hand man, but as his equal.

Left-wing: Son Heung-Min – Tottenham
Son Heung-Min is the man chasing Salah down in the Golden Boot race, having reached a career-best of 21 league goals.
The South Korean has been excellent despite the inconsistencies of Spurs this season, his form having helped keep the club in contention for Champions League qualification.
Son’s partnership with Harry Kane is one of the Premier League’s great double-acts and the 29-year-old does perhaps not receive the credit his talents deserve.
Son has been one of the Premier League’s finest forwards for some time and is a player who would improve any side in world football.
Forward: Harry Kane – Tottenham
Harry Kane leads the line for our Premier League Team of the Season, with the England captain having overcome a slow start to fire Spurs into the top four.
The 28-year-old has scored 16 goals and provided eight assists, trailing only Salah and Son for goal involvement in the Premier League this season.
His display in the win at Manchester City in February was arguably the best individual showing of the season.
Kane has scored 11 goals and provided six assists in his last 15 games for the North Londoners, who have risen into the Champions League places with only Liverpool (32) and Manchester City (27) having taken more points than Spurs’ 26 points across the last 12 league games.
Kane found his form at just the right time for Antonio Conte and his team and remains the best out-and-out centre-forward in the division, bar none.
Cristian Romero (Tottenham)
The Argentina defender arrived in English football in August from Italian club Atalanta and proved a major hit in north London. A no-nonsense centre-half who relishes physical battles, Romero provided aggression and balance to the Spurs defence. He really flourished under Antonio Conte in the second half of the season, playing key roles in some big team performances.
Son Heung-min (Tottenham)
For once, Harry Kane’s scoring exploits at Tottenham took a back seat as the England captain’s South Korean strike partner set the goal standard. Son broke the 20-goal barrier in his battle with Salah for the Premier League ‘Golden Boot’. His partnership with Kane was almost telepathic at times as the pair set a new league record for goal combinations.

1 - Tottenham’s Son Heung-Min is the first Asian player to win the Premier League Golden Boot (sharing the award with Mo Salah), with the attacker netting 23 goals in 2021-22. Shared. #PL https://twitter.com/OptaJoe/status/1528425613157183489
Not too much to work with in the first half, other than snatching at one volley. Played into the box by Kane 10 minutes into the second half but Krul saved his shot. Missed a string of big chances before more than making up for it with a low shot into the bottom right corner before curling home a second with aplomb to put him clear in the Golden Boot race until Salah scored to have them share it. Son managed it without a single penalty to his name. 9
Finished a superb season with the Golden Boot (shared with Mohamed Salah) after a clinical double. Did not let his head drop after seeing three efforts saved by Krul, and his second was a trademark curling stunner.
LW: Heung-min Son - 9/10 - It looked as if it wasn't to be his day after being denied by Krul on countless ocassions, but his patience was rewarded with a brace to temporarily pull clear of Salah.
Rodrigo Bentancur (Tottenham) - Understandably his arrival at Tottenham has been overshadowed by the influence Sergio Romero and Dejan Kulusevski have had on the team, but the Uruguayan midfielder is a seriously good footballer and showed this in setting Spurs up for victory in the game. His technical ability stands comparison with the legendary Tottenham midfielders of yore as was perfectly illustrated by his two assists. First bringing down a looping ball coming out of the sky perfectly in stride before providing Kulusevski with a tap in and then the most delicate of first-time clips for Kane to head home.

Sonny had loads of chances to increase his already impressive goal tally, and made no mistake in doing so. Krul made a few strong saves on Sonny, but the Korean’s perseverance paid off with a solid finish.
He thought he won the Golden Boot outright on a sublime right-footed cracker, but was pegged back by a late Salah goal at Anfield. Still, to come back and equal the Egyptian’s total is a sensational accomplishment.
Son might have scored twice to share the Golden Boot, but Spurs' star at Carrow Road was Kulusevski.
The 22-year-old had an outstanding match as he opened the scoring to settle the nerves and then made the game safe in the second half with a stunning strike.
Kulusevski has been a star since signing in January and once again he was pivotal in the team's forward play as he constantly stretched the Norwich defence and was at the heart of every Spurs attack.
Son Heung-min: 8/10
Son won the Premier League Golden Boot, taking his season tally to 23 goals with a five-minute brace. He missed a host of chances but more than made up for it eventually. On another day, he would have beaten Salah for the league’s top-scorer accolade but had to share it with the Egyptian.
STRIKER – HARRY KANE (TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR)
This was a bit tricky as no striker has really dominated the league. The top goalscorers in the league are both wider players. The top-scoring striker will most likely be either Kane or the honourable mention, Cristiano Ronaldo. Again, either of these two are a fine choice. We’ve gone for Kane purely because of the way he links up with the rest of his team-mates, particularly Heung-min Son.
LEFT-WING: HEUNG-MIN SON (TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR)
We really need to be talking more about Son being one of the best players in the world. It’s not that anyone thinks he’s not fantastic, but he’s not coming up enough in the discussion of best wide forwards. Not to say he’s the definitive best, but he needs to be in the conversation. This season is the first he’s gone past 20 league goals, it won’t be the last.
Heung Min-Son - 8. One of the players of the season this year and Son showed that again. A brace saw him share the Premier League golden boot with Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.
Son Heung-Min (Tottenham) - 7.52
Son Heung-Min became the first ever Asian player to win the Golden Boot in any of Europe's top five leagues on the final day as the South Korean star ended 2021/22 with 23 league goals to share the award with Mohamed Salah. In addition, the 29-year-old registered seven assists and is the first of two Tottenham players in the team of the season with a WhoScored rating of 7.52.
Harry Kane (Tottenham) - 7.45
Son's attacking partner in crime features on the frontline as Harry Kane makes the team of the season with a WhoScored rating of 7.45. Kane started the season poorly following a failed move to Manchester City, yet ended the campaign strongly under the watchful eye of Antonio Conte as he hit the back of the net 17 times, provided nine assists and created more clear-cut goalscoring chances (19) than any other player to secure his place in the side.
The time has come for us to reveal our 2021/22 Premier League TOTS! 👇
Liverpool lead the way with five players featured in our XI, Man City, Chelsea and Tottenham are represented by two players each, and Kevin De Bruyne is our Player of the Season! 🌟
Dejan Kulusevski, 22 (Tottenham)
The only non-Englishman to feature here, Kulusevski has qualified for this list despite arriving from Juventus only in January. Since then, he’s racked up as many assists (eight) as Kevin De Bruyne has managed all season, and alongside Spurs’ other mid-season addition, Rodrigo Bentancur, has been a key reason why the club made a late dash for the top four. Rather than blistering pace or a dazzling array of skills, what stands out with Kulusevski is tactical nous and excellent decision making – choosing the right pass under pressure – which Antonio Conte values deeply. Tottenham are expected to make his loan permanent this summer for €30m, which feels cheap for a player who quickly became a fan favourite, supporters showing their love for the Swede with a chant based upon Abba’s Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!
Ryan Sessegnon, 22 (Tottenham)
If Kulusevski has been a revelation since his first day in a Spurs shirt, Sessegnon has been a slow burner. His Tottenham career appeared to be over when on loan at Hoffenheim last season, but under Conte, particularly since the turn of the year, he has quietly transformed himself into one of the team’s most important players. As a left wing-back, the former Fulham starlet has pocketed Mohamed Salah and Saka in crucial clashes recently, and his man-of-the-match display against Burnley means he edgex out Palace’s Marc Guéhi and Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey for the final spot on this list. With Sessegnon comfortable in a 3-4-3 and 3-5-2, it would be a shock not to see him make his England debut next month in the Nations League to put himself in contention for the World Cup.
Son Heung-min (Tottenham)
The scorer of 23 goals, none of which have come from the penalty spot, Son cut a forlorn if slightly amusing figure as he sulked on the bench after being taken off with 18 minutes to go during Tottenham’s recent rout of Arsenal so he could be rested. Son’s largesse clearly did not extend to gifting this season’s Golden Boot to Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah. Two goals on the final day of the season meant he shared the award with the Egyptian and his performances for Spurs this season earned him a player of the season nomination.
Not just a scorer of goals but a scorer of crucial goals, only two of Son’s strikes this season have come in Tottenham defeats, against Arsenal and Southampton while he has also contributed seven assists. The South Korean has thrived under the management of Antonio Conte, having scored only one goal for each of the four months Nuno Espírito Santo was in charge. He will be left pondering the goalscoring heights he could have scaled had Conte been appointed during the summer.
Which Premier League manager has done the best job?
Tom Collomosse: Antonio Conte. Tottenham have been drifting since the latter days of Mauricio Pochettino but Conte has turned them into a proper team again. Why on earth did Manchester United think they did not need him?
Your Premier League XI for 2021-22...
Ian Ladyman: (4-2-3-1) Pope; James, Dias, Matip, Cucurella; Rodri, Thiago; Salah, De Bruyne, Bowen; Kane.
Sami Mokbel: (4-2-3-1) Ederson; Alexander-Arnold, Guehi, van Dijk, Cancelo; Rice, Thiago; Salah, De Bruyne, Son; Mane.
Craig Hope : (4-3-3) Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, van Dijk, Burn, Cancelo; De Bruyne, Rice, Joelinton; Salah, Son, Mane.
Jack Gaughan: (4-3-3) Alisson; James, van Dijk, Laporte, Cancelo; De Bruyne, Rice, Bernardo Silva; Salah, Ronaldo, Son.
Dominic King: (4-3-3) Alisson; Alexander-Arnold; Matip, van Dijk, Cancelo; Bernardo Silva, Fabinho, De Bruyne; Salah, Mane, Son.
Matt Barlow: (4-3-3) Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Rudiger, van Dijk, Cancelo; De Bruyne, Rice, Ward-Prowse; Salah, Jota, Son.
Adrian Kajumba: (4-2-2-2) Alisson; James, van Dijk, Rudiger, Cancelo; Rice, Gallagher; Bowen, Son; Salah, Kane.
Son: The partnership between Harry Kane and Son Heung-min is unmistakably important. However, on this occasion I am not going to allow the spectre of Kane to overshadow the contribution Son has made to Spurs this season. It was the South Korea international who held the fort while Kane was sulking over his failed transfer to Manchester City. Son was outstanding throughout and his performances for that spell alone deserve recognition. That is why I am delighted he shares the Golden Boot with Mohamed Salah. It's a fitting tribute to mark his goalscoring efforts this season. Champions League football next season won't hurt either.
Did you know? Son became the first Asian player to win the Premier League Golden Boot.
My @premierleague team of the season (4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk, Rudiger, Cancelo; De Bruyne, Rodri, Rice; Salah, Son, Bernardo Silva. Will explain/elaborate/justify more @TimesSport later. https://twitter.com/henrywinter/status/1528704852133662721
Player of the season
Mohamed Salah had led the table for the majority of the season but Heung-Min Son soared up the chart during the second half of the season to go into the final fixture at the summit, while Kevin De Bruyne produced a breathtaking surge to create a three-horse race.
Son was involved in a league-high 23 non-penalty goals during the campaign and produced a string of breathtaking performances.
Team of the season
Few would sniff at this line-up, packed with statistical giants: Alisson, Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip, Alexander-Arnold, Cancelo, De Bruyne, Rodri, Bukayo Saka, Salah, Harry Kane and Son.
Forward: Son Heung-min
The South Korean has been on another level since Antonio Conte arrived, with none of his 23 goals coming from penalties. His partnership with Harry Kane is the Premier League’s most devastating in history and his ability to run and finish with aplomb is breathtaking at times.
Striker: Harry Kane
Tottenham’s talisman was outscored by Son this year, although their team effort helped Spurs recover to secure a top-four spot against the odds. A No.9 and No.10 rolled into one, the 28-year-old remains one of the Premier League’s sharpest finishers — and Spurs will be glad they refused to sell.
7.3 - Son Heung-min has scored 7.3 goals more than expected (23 goals from 15.7xG) in English Premier League this season, only Kevin de Bruyne did better (15 goals from 6.3xG). Clinical. https://twitter.com/OptaJoon/status/1528425517753724928
Son Heung-Min (Tottenham Hotspur)
Son Heung-Min bagged a brace in the final game of the season to level with Salah at the top of the Premier League goalscoring chart. He has now become the first Asian player to win the Golden Boot in Europe's top five leagues.
He scored 23 goals and provided nine assists in 35 Premier League appearances for Spurs. Son is one of the most underrated forwards of his generation and has been more important to Antonio Conte's side this term than Harry Kane.
STRIKER
Harry Kane - Tottenham
With just one goal in his first 15 Premier League games this season, you did wonder how much missing out on a move to Manchester City was affecting him.
But since the arrival of Antonio Conte, who replaced Nuno Espirito Santo mid-season, Kane has been back to his best.
He has talked up the influence of working under the fiery Italian coach and has even given a nod to his own future by talking up next season together.
Along with Son Heung-min they can make a credible case as the best one-two punch in English football.
Two goals in a 3-2 win away at Manchester City stand out among his season's highlights reel.
LEFT WING
Son Heung-min - Tottenham
Purely typing his name into Google, one of the first suggested questions is, is Son Heung-min a Tottenham legend?
It's a tad premature for that kind of language but the South Korean is a superstar - not even in the making, he's right now a world class talent.
Given he doesn't take penalties, to have shared the Golden Boot with Salah after a brace at Norwich on the final day is a remarkable achievement.
Gary Neville believes Son walks into any team in the world, he's just that good.
And it is hard to argue with that. He runs tirelessly, is unselfish but also knows when to put his foot through it and can be a scoring machine also.
A top three Player of the Season contender alongside Salah and De Bruyne.
🇰🇷 We can confirm we will face @SevillaFC in the second match of our pre-season tour of Korea this summer, supported by the Club’s Principal Partner, @AIAGroup_Press.
ST: Harry Kane (Tottenham)
Kane and Son Heung-min became the most lethal strike partnership in Premier League history this season, and with Antonio Conte’s exacting tactical instructions taking them to an even higher level, there is the outside chance that Tottenham can do something special next season.
Certainly the England captain is likely to only get better. His capacity to play as No.10 and a No.9 simultaneously is one of the most innovative things to have come out of the English top-flight in recent years, and in 2021-22 the sight of him playing sweeping diagonals from central midfield was a joy to watch.
Had it not been for another slow first half of the season, Kane would already be closing in on Wayne Rooney in second place in the Premier League's all-time scorer list. A long summer rest will be welcome.
LW: Son Heung-min (Tottenham)
Sharing the award with Mohamed Salah, Son won his first Golden Boot after scoring 23 goals in 35 games – a record made all the more impressive by Tottenham's difficult start to the season.
It is hard to believe, given how the campaign finished, that they began by winning nine points from nine games under Nuno Espirito Santo.
Son has been magnificent, not just scoring regularly but becoming a crucial part of Antonio Conte’s tactical strategy by running ahead of Harry Kane to become the de facto No.9. His movement stretches opposition defences and has allowed for Conte’s direct style to take hold in north London.
He is also, based on chances created, the sixth-most creative player in the division and ended the campaign with seven assists. If it wasn’t already clear, this season has confirmed that Son is in the ‘world-class’ category.
Son Heung-min capped off a wonderful individual campaign for Tottenham Hotspur by netting twice on the final day to jointly-clinch the Premier League Golden Boot award (shared with Mohamed Salah). In fact, Son Heung-Min became the first Asian player to achieve this feat, with the attacker netting 23 goals in 2021-22.
To further highlight Son’s impressive goalscoring form this term, none of his 23 goals came from the penalty spot – the most goals a Spurs player has scored in a Premier League campaign without netting a penalty, overtaking Gareth Bale’s previous record in 2012-13 (21).
Son Heung-min was a man possessed in front of goal in the 2021-22 league campaign, scoring 23 goals from an expected goals total of just 15.8 – only Kevin De Bruyne (+8.8) outperformed his xG total by a larger differential than the Spurs forward (+7.2).
Son was also a creative force for Tottenham in the Premier League this term, creating more goalscoring chances (72) than any other player at the club.
With seven assists to go along with his 23 goals, Son became just the fourth different Tottenham player to reach 30+ goal involvements in a single Premier League campaign after Harry Kane, Teddy Sheringham and Jürgen Klinsmann.
FW: Heung min-Son (Tottenham)
Entering Claude Makelele levels of ‘everyone says he’s underrated but the sheer amount of people saying that means he really is rated’ ratedness.
Voted Tottenham’s Player of the Season and a winner of the Golden Boot with 23 goals – none of them penalties.
A remarkable striker.
Forster undergoing Spurs medical
Fraser Forster is having a medical at Tottenham ahead of his proposed free transfer.
The goalkeeper is out of contract at Southampton this summer and is poised to sign for the north London club.
Forster was at the club’s training ground on Wednesday under going medical checks and, if there are no unexpected problems, he will become a Spurs player on July 1.
The 34-year-old, who has won six England caps, is set to join as back-up to Hugo Lloris, most likely to play in the domestic cup competitions.
Current number two goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini is expected to return to Atalanta at the end of his loan spell and Spurs are keen to replace him with a homegrown option.
Forster leaves St Mary’s after 162 appearances over an eight-year spell. He played 24 times in all competitions last season.
Scarlett signs new Spurs deal until 2026
Tottenham's 18-year-old striker Dane Scarlett has signed a new deal at the club until 2026.
The academy graduate made seven appearances for Spurs this season and helped England U19s to qualify for this summer’s European Championship with six goals in five appearances.
Harry Kane (Tottenham): Started the season in something of a sulk as his desired move to Manchester City fell through, but then showed he can not only score goals, but drop deep to set them up as well. Spurs' qualification for the Champions League is likely to mean he stays so long as manager Antonio Conte does, too.
Son Heung-Min (Tottenham): He and Kane are now officially the best strike partnership in Premier League history. Full of dashing clever runs and expert finishes, he shares the Golden Boot with Salah this season and plays with a smile on his face.
Centre Back: Cristian Romero (Tottenham Hotspur)
Tottenham Hotspur finished the Premier League season with the third-best defensive record, conceding 29 goals in 38 games. A major catalyst for that brilliant record was their summer signing Cristian Romero.
The Argentine defender proved to be a quality acquisition, as he kept a clean defensive line with his sharp skills. Romero became a major part of Antonio Conte’s backline, making 72 clearances, 62 tackles and winning 129 duels in 22 appearances. He helped Spurs maintain a feisty defense that guided the club to a 4th-place finish.
Left Wing: Heung-Min Son (Tottenham Hotspur)
Heung-min Son proved why many called him “Sonaldo” by enjoying a brilliant season in which he helped carry Tottenham Hotspur to a 4th-place finish against all odds. He scored 23 goals to share the Golden Boot with Mo Salah, becoming the first Asian player to win a Premier League Golden Boot.
Son’s clinical finishing, terrorizing movement and unpredictable style troubled the best of defenders, producing a career-best campaign to help Spurs book a place in the Champions League next season.
Centre Forward: Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur)
Before the 2021/22 campaign, there were major doubts over whether Harry Kane would even play with Tottenham Hotspur. He was linked with a move to Man City, but that was scrapped since Spurs declined to sell him. Kane took some time to get going after the transfer saga played out, but he found his rhythm under Antonio Conte.
Kane became the leader of Spurs’ attack under the Italian, contributing key goals to help them climb the table. The Englishman ended the season with 17 goals and 9 assists in 37 appearances, ensuring his side beat out Arsenal to the final Champions League spot.
When does the 2022/23 Premier League season begin?
The Premier League season will begin on the weekend of August 6/7. This is one week earlier than the 2021/22 campaign started, and means teams will have an 11-week break between the seasons.
However, the Premier League will take a break in the middle of the season to accommodate a winter World Cup for the first time.
As a result, match-round 16 will be the final one played - over the weekend of November 12/13 - before players called up by their countries for the tournament travel to Qatar.
The Premier League will then resume on Boxing Day following the conclusion of the World Cup, with the final taking place on December 18.
The Premier League will conclude on May 28, with all the matches kicking off at the same time, as is standard on the final day.
When are the Premier League fixtures released?
The Premier League fixtures for the 2022/23 season will be released at 9am on Thursday June 16.
When Tottenham need Son Heung-min, he's there for them. His best season in a Spurs shirt and ended the campaign with a share of the Golden Boot with 23 goals and nine assists to make it 32 goal involvements in 35 Premier League matches. He managed that goal tally without a single penalty to his name while also breaking records with Kane for their partnership. Son signed a new four-year deal at the start of the campaign and even when his confidence or form dipped slightly, he still provided for Tottenham. There were only seven Premier League games since December when he didn't score or assist a goal for a team-mate. He provided 27 goal involvements during the 24 league games he was available for in that period, scoring 19 goals and eight assists. What an incredible contribution. 10

Rarely comment on these 'subjective' awards - but the omission of Son Heung-min from the list is utterly criminal. He's been miles better than Kane & Ronaldo. Salah ended poorly, KdB started slow.
