電子タバコ用の液体の主要成分であるプロピレングリコールとグリセロールは、それ自体では危険とは考えられていません。
ただし、気化器で加熱すると分解し、ホルムアルデヒドなどの有毒化合物に変換される場合があります。
有害ではないと宣伝されているため、多くの電子タバコユーザーは、単に水蒸気を吸い込んでいるだけだと考えています。
しかし、液体ベースの溶媒、香料、添加剤は、気化後、気道と血管に対する複数で重度の損傷の危険にユーザーをさらすこととなります。
CNCTは先月提出した訴状の中で、加熱式タバコ装置「IQOS」を宣伝することでタバコ広告禁止法に違反したとしてフィリップ・モリス・フランスを告発した。
