This is a great little float trip if you’re looking to hit a river for a quick one. Only 4 miles in length, this section of the Conecuh is a lazy trip through some beautiful scenery, including two waterfalls and some interesting rock formations. The trip can be lengthened to make it an 8.6-mile trip. The Conecuh River is a wonderful trip from just south of Point “A” Lake (where this trip begins) all the way to the Florida panhandle (where it becomes known as the Escambia River), and then into Escambia Bay, eventually flowing into the Gulf of Mexico. Longer trips provide excellent overnight adventures for the paddler as the river heads 68 miles to Florida. The trip we describe here is a simple 4-miler, but it’s good for just grabbing your canoe and paddle at short notice. It’s especially nice if you have small children because of the easy flow, the short distance, and the sights to see.
