Honestly, TOEIC 201105 has made me experience something rather unexpected. My new experience set off with the my ID picture. I decided to put paste my picture the day before the test because I wanted to join “ID picture-putting pasting festival” (I don’t know if it really exists?!). When I tried to do that, I realized there were no more pictures at hand available! I was so desperate to search old ones. Otherwise, I have to prepare in the morning on a test day, which will surely lead me to a mental disaster. Fortunately, I managed to find ID pictures, which I hereby confess was were taken four years ago! What the hell? Nobody will recognize how I was like in January, 2007. The second new experience is that I did not cook pancakes for breakfast on a TOEIC day. Well, did it make you rather disappointed? Did you expect something more dramatic or funny? Well, I’d like you to be a bit patient and read it through. I heard that carbohydrate-rich food is good to eat before you do a physically-demanding activity, such as marathon, or tennis games. I consider two hours of two-hour TOEIC test is as similar to those physical activities that require physical stamina and mental concentration. (204 words/10 minutes)
When I arrive at Nishi-Chiaba station, I saw one of my students. He was also taking the TOEIC at Chiba Keizai University so I suggested that we take a taxi to the venue. So, we went to the taxi rank in front of the station. There was a beautiful young lady waiting for a taxi and I asked her if she was going the same place to take the TOEIC. She said yes, and I asked her if she didn't mind sharing a taxi with you. She said no, so we took the same taxi. When we were in the taxi, I tried to make a conversation, but I wasn't very successful.
"Do you take the TOEIC often?"
"Sometimes."
"Do you need TOEIC scores for job hunting?"
"No, I need to take the TOEIC for my job."
"Oh, really? Well, I teach English and he's my student."
"Oh, I see."
That was all we said during our 5-minute taxi ride to the venue. My student didn't say much, just smiling. When we arrived, I bid her good luck and we parted. Actually when I went to the assigned room, she was there too, but I didn't talk to her. So nothing happened.

Have you ever taken the TOEIC test before? I believe that most of you、 coming to this site、 must have taken it at least once. You have your target score, don’t you?
When I was around 600 points, my goal was over 730. Those days, I was very aggressive both studying and taking tests. I used to record what textbooks I did and what kinds of questions I could not answer. Now, my score is over 800 points and my TOEIC target is to get over 900.
I think there are two ways to achieve the goal. One is to be aggressive setting the goal and challenge it in a short term. The other is to keep your own pace and study from many aspects. As a result, you could achieve the goal if you can keep studying.
Which type are you? I am the latter. Once as I mentioned, I was very aggressive to take tests, and I always wanted to break my own records. But now, I don’t study only for taking the test, but also as you can see, writing and other skills. I believe I can achieve my goal when my skills come to the point. In addition, there is no goal to study English. Some of the people’s score are beyond 990.
Thinking about the point, my goal is just to continue studying English, not give up learning English. (10’35 / 238w / to be self-corrected)
